High-speed chase ends in crash

A Baldwin County woman is behind bars after she crashed her car during a high-speed chase while eluding officers Wednesday afternoon off Jack Springs Road.

According to officers at the scene, an Alabama State Trooper pulled over the woman, whose name is being withheld pending investigation, in Baldwin County for an apparent traffic violation. As the trooper approached the vehicle, she sped off in her white Chevrolet Camaro leading him on a high-speed chase on Interstate 65.

Police Release Names Of People Arrested In Motel Meth Bust

Gulf Shores police have released the names of the six people they arrested after busting a meth lab at a motel.

An employee of the Microtel Inn on Highway 59 called police Monday. They said one of their guests reported a strange smell coming from a nearby room. When police knocked on the door of the room, they say one of the suspects was actually cooking meth. Police also found drug residue inside a truck driven by one of the suspects.

A Robertsdale man who allegedly fled on foot into a wooded area Oct. 5 to elude a deputy’s traffic stop has been indicted on numerous drug charges

Jeffery Patterson, 31, of Patterson Road is charged with possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude police, according to the indictment.

A woman accused of shooting into an occupied building entered a guilty plea Thursday in Baldwin Circuit Court.

Circuit Judge Charles C. Partin handed Mary Ellen Battle, 38, a 15-year suspended sentence for the crime. Battle must spend 5 years on supervised probation and pay nearly $10,000 in restitution, according to Assistant District Attorney Brett Anderson.

Separate meth lab busts nets 7 arrests

Gulf Shores Police tell FOX10 News they have arrested seven people for cooking meth in the last 24 hours.

The first incident happened Sunday night when an officer was attempting to pull over a vehicle for following too closely. The driver of the car didn’t stop, and led the officer on a short chase. When the driver finally stopped, police found a rolling meth lab inside the vehicle. The male driver was arrested.

Baldwin County District Attorney-elect Hallie Dixon says double jeopardy may be a problem in the case against former Mobile County Commissioner Steve Nodine. “The issue will be, does double jeopardy prevent new charges from the same incident. And quite frankly, I have someone doing the research on that issue,” said Dixon.

Former Baldwin DA candidate appeals DUI conviction

Russell Jackson Watson, an attorney and former candidate for Baldwin County district attorney, is appealing a municipal conviction on a drunken driving charge, according to court records.

The appeal was filed Wednesday in Baldwin County Circuit Court. Documents indicate Watson has requested a jury trial. Bail was set at $1,500 and an arraignment has been scheduled at 9 a.m. Feb. 16.

Arraignment is set Feb. 16 for a Daphne man who allegedly beat his father unconscious with a board, pushed and verbally abused his mother and cut phone lines and the tires of her vehicle to prevent her from leaving her Loxley residence

Steven Michael Zuniga, 29, of Geneva Drive, was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with second- and third-degree domestic violence in the Aug. 29 incident, according to Baldwin County District Court records.

According to a complaint filed by Loxley Police Lt. Raymond Lovell, Zuniga hit his father, Brian Zuniga, repeatedly over the head with a board and continued striking him after he lost consciousness

The Baldwin County grand jury set bail at $150,000 for a Foley man who allegedly used his fists to beat a man unconscious while stealing a vehicle

Jermaine Mabon, 37, of South Oak Street, was indicted Dec. 28 on charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault, according to court records.

On April 11, Mabon allegedly tried to steal a car belonging to David Hayes. Court records state Mabon pulled Hayes from the vehicle and beat him unconscious.

Texas man to face bank robbery charge in Baldwin County

A Texas man who pleaded guilty in federal court to robbing a Robertsdale bank is scheduled to be arraigned next month in Baldwin Circuit Court for the same incident.

Court records show that Michael Jon Watton, 28, of Dayton, Texas, is slated to appear in Baldwin County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Feb. 16 to answer to a charge of first-degree robbery. Watton is accused of robbing the bank at knifepoint and taking $3,875 on Oct. 1. Police arrested Watton four days later at his grandmother’s house in Summerdale.

Authorities in Baldwin County last week filed a reckless murder charge in Circuit Court against a Fairhope man accused in a deadly shooting that occurred during an Independence Day celebration.

The charge against Benjamin Kirby Blackmon, 25, was filed Thursday and his arraignment has been scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 16, records show.

Fairhope police found Thomas “T.J.” Perkins of Frisco City shot in the head on Young Street in Fairhope on July 5 following a fight.

A Bay Minette man accused of stealing a trailer will be arraigned next month on four charges stemming from the incident.

The case against Brian Michael Hansen was filed Thursday in Circuit Court. Hansen faces charges receiving stolen property and theft of property, both in the first degree; second-degree possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
