Officials say soliciting at busy intersection in Robertsdale requires state permit – GulfCoastNewsToday.com: Local News

Groups wishing to raise funds at the intersection of Highway 59 and Highway 104 in Robertsdale will no longer be able to do so unless they have a state permit, officials said at Monday night’s Robertsdale Council meeting.

The Robertsdale City Council was considering an ordinance which would limit panhandling at the intersection after public safety concerns were expressed over people walking along and in the roadway at the busy intersection.

But after reviewing the existing state statute, along with various attorney general opinions, Mayor Charles Murphy said the city will begin enforcing state law which requires a permit from the governing body to solicit in the right of way.
