Gulf Shores detective on why court order wasn’t sought in getting Justin Lott’s BAC: ‘I made a mistake’ | AL.com

A Gulf Shores police detective said the night 30-year-old Justin Lott was arrested for causing a fatal hit-and-run crash last year that he made a mistake in not pursuing a court order for a blood alcohol test.

Detective Mark Russell, during testimony Friday before a jury into the manslaughter case against Lott, said he was unable to reach an official with the Baldwin County District Attorney’s office on March 21, 2014, in an effort to get a court order approved.
