Jake Smith has worked in law enforcement for approximately three years. Smith was hired as a corrections officer by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office in the Spring of 2012. He applied for the Anniston Police Department during that time and was hired as a patrolman in January of 2013. Smith completed his training at the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy, graduating at the top of his class.
While working at the Anniston Police Department, Smith worked in the patrol division and as a field training officer. He received additional training during this time in defensive tactics, firearms and high-risk building entries, and emergency response to CBRNE incidents. He qualified and competed in the department’s Top Gun competition in 2014, placing third overall in the department.
