Feds focus on forestry deal in day 2 of trial for Mobile County License Commissioner Kim Hastie and husband | AL.com

Landowner Neil McMillan needed to clear some timber from his Baldwin County property and John Hastie, his second cousin, was just the man to do it, McMillan testified Wednesday in federal court.

John Hastie, the husband of Mobile County License Commissioner Kim Hastie, hammered out a deal with him in December 2014, McMillan said. John Hastie’s employer would buy the wood and McMillan would tell the forestry firm to cut a $5,232 check to John and Kim’s daughter, Jordan Hastie, according to McMillan.
