Foley to get $582,000 from BP

Even with sales up for September, city officials will get more money than expected from BP PLC for tax revenue lost due to the effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Mayor John Koniar said.

The Foley City Council voted Monday night to authorize Koniar to accept $582,000
from BP for sales tax income lost in the 2010 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30. City officials had expected to receive about $86,000 less than the BP offer, the mayor said.
