A $14 million events center for Foley is the latest project to fall victim to slow economic times as the City Council voted to shelve plans for the facility, officials said.
The council voted last week to rescind the resolution to go out for bids on the project, said Councilman Wayne Trawick.
The motion passed Aug. 17 told the architectural firm of Hatch Mott McDonald to inform bidders that plans for the center are postponed until city officials determine that Foley can afford to move forward

14 Million Dollar Project — and not a dollar for a true refuge and shelter for the 4-6,000 animals killed at Baldwin County Animal Control (Shelter/Pound) each year, mainly because of lack of space. Officials priorities are always in the wrong place, in my opinion. Perhaps they could spare a few thousand for the welfare of homeless and abandoned companion animals, who have no where to go, and little hope for adoption, due to the number.
