New park rules make residents concerned

Baldwin County parks need rules to restrict alcohol, vandalism and noise, both neighbors and users of the facilities said, but some also worry that proposed regulations could limit traditional access to local waterways.

The Baldwin County Commission will hold the second of two public hearings Tuesday on a proposed ordinance establishing rules for parks, boat launches and historic sites.

Baldwin County residents voted in November to allow the commission to set regulations for county-owned property. Under the proposed ordinance, county parks and historic sites would be closed from one hour after sunset until one hour before sunrise. The plan also bans alcohol, weapons, fireworks and overnight camping at most county facilities
