Set to open this month are Accessories Galore & The Bag Lady , 3,772 square feet, and The Dunes, A Cigar Bar, 3,000 square feet. In April, In nerlight Surf & Skate will open in 6,755 square feet and Sand Dollar Life Styles will open a 6,717-square-foot store. Construction should begin this spring on a Publix Super Market in Pelican Lifestyle Center, with a spring 2010 opening date, Tilley said. LifeQuest of Florence plans to invest $5.7 million to build a 32-bed specialty care, assisted living facility in Gulf Shores, according to the State Health Planning & Develop ment Agency in Montgomery. The firm is looking at two sites, one on Baldwin County 4 and another on Baldwin County 10, both near Ala. 59

It fails to mention the stores that have left the pelican point! I think more then 4! And Indigeo Joes health rating of 82, sounds like a plan.
Colonial, or whomever currently owns this open-air lifestyle center, would have been better off trying to attract national retailers, such as American Eagle Outfitters or The Gap. Obviously, Pelican Place is facing stiff competition from Tanger Outlets and even Eastern Shore Centre. This plaza desperately needs either cluster of casual dining restaurants or a fashion-oriented department store anchor.
