Welcome center remains closed

The Interstate 10 welcome center in Baldwin County remained closed Thursday while officials waited for test results on a strong-smelling substance found in the men’s room soap dispenser, a state highway department spokesman said.

Two other highway rest rooms — one on Interstate 65 in Chilton County and the other on Interstate 75 in Marion County, Fla. — had been reopened Thursday after unknown liquids found there were determined to be harmless, said Tony Harris, an Alabama Department of Transportation spokesman.
