A Mississippi man who was convicted of driving to Baldwin County in search of sex with a minor will go to prison for the next 10 years, a federal judge ruled this afternoon.
A federal jury in Mobile found Mitchell Shane Hooks guilty in November of traveling to have sex with a child, as well as using a computer to entice a child. The latter charge carried a mandatory-minimum prison term of 10 years.
Defense attorney Richard Shields said he would appeal. Still, he acknowledged that his client’s sentence could have been much worse.
