Firm cited for veteran home failures only one seeking new state contract

Health Management Resources has provided nurses, doctors, administrators and other staff members at Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs homes since 2004 and was the lone applicant for the new contract by last Friday’s deadline, said Bob Horton, spokesman for the state VA.

The South Carolina-based HMR operates facilities in Bay Minette, Alexander City and Huntsville, each with about 150 residents
