Teen surprised by live feed to her bedroom

Last month, a 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend put a tape in a VCR preparing to watch a movie. When they pressed the power-on button, they discovered a live feed to the 17-year-old’s bedroom, according to court testimony last week.

One of them went into the bedroom and found the camera, which was behind a mirror, said Robertsdale Police Investigator Anthony Dobson. They reported the camera to Robertsdale police and brought a couple of tapes that they had found. One of the scenes on the tapes included the 17-year-old and a friend putting on dresses before a homecoming dance, Dobson said.

Robertsdale police arrested the 17-year-old’s relative, Jerry Eugene Bates, 43, on Jan. 11 at the East Silverhill Avenue home on a charge of production of obscene matter containing a visual depiction of a person under 17 years of age, officials have said.
