Ball tournaments that exclude local teams will no longer be able to use municipal fields free following action by the City Council.

Council members voted unanimously Monday to charge standard fees and deposits for tournaments with fewer than three Robertsdale squads in each age group. Scott Gilbert, public works director, said the city will continue to allow local teams, schools and other groups to use the fields for free, but some outside organizations were taking advantage of the practice.
