Gas prices have soared into the $4-per-gallon stratosphere, but an Eastern Shore car dealership will ease the pump pain — for one day — later this month.
Terry Thompson Chevrolet plans to sell gas for 66 cents per gallon, beginning at 7 a.m. July 28. The dealership plans to sell 5,000 gallons, or enough for 330 customers. All proceeds will be donated to charity.
Customers will be allowed to buy 15 gallons, and each 15-gallon tank will cost $9.90, or about $50 less than the retail price of a 15-gallon fill-up. Gas will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This is a great gesture and more dealers should do the same. I personally know Terry and his gesture is geninue and beyond generous. He is very active wth educational foundations and I am sure he plans on raising as much money for them as possible.

Wow…this guy is basically going to be giving $50 to each customer that comes by. Either he is a gazillionaire or just a good person trying to help the community. From what I have heard about Terry Thompson he is a great guy that is always doing things for the community. We need more community leaders like him.

Car dealers have a tendency to be known as greedy, money hungry, lets hit a homerun off of this customer, type of businessmen. This Thompson guy seems to be the total opposite. My hat off to him as while $50 is not a lot of money to some, it is a ton to others during these most trying times. This guy is literally giving nearly 20k away in one day and that’s a lot of money.
Kudos to you Mr. Thompson. The next time I look for a car I will definitely shop you guys. I am not saying I wil buy, but I will shop and all things equal you guys will get my business.

It is nice to see someone do something of this nature. I am sure a ton of people will be very grateful for this most worthy opportunity and basically free money. Like the guy above Kudos to Mr. T for this wonderful gesture and promotion.
God bless.

Hmm….I talked with some friends of mind about this as we thought NO WAY…apparently we were wrong as I have learned Terry Thompson is always giving back to the community.
I promise I will be on line the day of this promotion…$50 worth of free gas will enable me to buy more new clothes for my kids for this school year.
In advance thanks Mr. Thompson and everyone at TTC.

This is nothing more than a publicity stunt…but I must add a very good one that will benefit a lot of people. I can imagine how long the lines will be. Nancy
Great thing to do for the schools. Doesn’t hurt to get a little publicity and still give something back to the community. Way to go Terry Thompson. I hope to continue to buy cars from you.
Thank you for all you have done for this great community. As a teacher I can truly say that your contributions make a difference in our schools. Not only have you supported the enrichment foundations but you support Youth Leadership helping us form the youth of today into outstanding Young Adults. A thousand thanks to you and your staff!
We need more businessmen like this Thompson guy that actually care about the community. Well done.

Will the difference in purchase price versus sales price qualify as a tax write off? or will they only write off the 66 cents?
In essence if 5000 gallons are sold… will TT get to write off $3,300, or $16,700? or $20,000 with a $3,300 contribution to local schools.
I’m not questioning his character, Just curious as to the potential benifits.
I’d sell beer for $0.66 and give the proceeds to charity if I could write off $20,000.
I’d buy the guy a cold one if that tells you anything.
