Rural AL judges to hear cases in Baldwin County

State court statistics show that Mobile and Baldwin counties could justify more judges, but the state has no money to hire them.

So Alabama’s chief justice came up with a remedy: Send judges from quieter, rural counties to places where judges can barely keep up with their caseloads.

Everyone connected to the criminal justice system seems to like the concept, but making it work hasn’t been easy.
