Two anonymous sources have reported that both assistant superintendents at Baldwin County Public Schools plan to retire as early as this summer.
Janay Dawson and Terry Knight both have long histories of service in the local school system.
Since both sources for this story were submitted anonymously, it’s possible (or likely?) they were both from the same person so we’re trying to get independent verification of this.
If true, is this good news or bad?
Will existing people move up or will they look for outsiders to fill these positions?

Both are products of the school system. I remember ole Janay as a principal, infact I remember Mr. Knight as well.
“IF” the rumors are true, the BOE very well could promote from within.
A BCBE employee emailed us today to say this was not true and that both would be around at least one more year. We’ll post updates when we can get more info.
Hey Chuck, every thought about calling BCBOE – why the “anonymous speculation” when you can pick up the phone? I love your site, but this blows the credibility.
Good point, James. We’ve already sent emails to both assistant superintendents via their website but there’s still been no reply yet. We’ll keep you posted.
In our defense, though, we do clearly state that we’ll accept rumors on our Contact page.

Thanks, anon. We’ve confirmed that only Knight will be retiring effective July 1. Apparantly, Dawson is sticking around for a while.
