German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp AG promised 2,700 permanent jobs when it chose north Mobile County as the site of its first North American steel plant.
At the time, a “conservative” estimate of the potential economic impact indicated that 4,300 more non-ThyssenKrupp jobs would emerge in the wake of the company’s $3.7 billion investment in southwest Alabama.
Overstreet’s newest employees are living proof.
Lunch for ThyssenKrupp has become a regular part of the Stagecoach workday. The food is prepared in Stockton but served up on site — about 100 lunches a day.
