Water customers in this rural community that links Spanish Fort and Bay Minette will apparently decide whether the local water authority should be absorbed by North Baldwin Utilities.
Mark Ryan — a White House member who also serves as North Baldwin’s attorney — spoke at Monday’s White House Fork Water System meeting and delivered almost 400 petitions calling for a vote on the proposed takeover by North Baldwin.
Bob Wills, the White House Water System’s attorney, said the petitions must be verified before a special meeting, and subsequent vote, can be called. The verification process could take a couple of weeks, he said.
But in an interview with the Register, Wills conceded that Ryan has the 200 petitions required to call the meeting. It’s unclear when the special meeting will be scheduled.
Here’s what’s at stake: The future of approximately 2,000 members of the Water House Fork Water System.
