Baldwin County Commission Chairman Frank Burt suggested Tuesday that a county employee vying for revenue commissioner in the upcoming GOP primary should quit his job instead of being granted a leave of absence.
“I just think the cleanest thing is to leave your job and hope you can get it back,” Burt said at a Tuesday commission work session referring to Ron Scott, a planning technician in the county’s Planning and Zoning Department.
Scott, who wasn’t at the meeting, submitted a request to the commission for a leave of absence to campaign for the revenue commissioner’s position before the June 3 Republican primary.
