Two boys ‘seriously ill’ from E. coli

Two brothers sickened by an E. coli outbreak on Baldwin County’s Eastern Shore remained in fair and good condition today after being transferred from Mobile to a Birmingham hospital, a spokeswoman said.

The brothers, reportedly 10 and 8 years old, were transferred from Springhill Medical Center to Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham in recent days after reportedly being “seriously ill” from the poisonous strain of the E. coli bacteria, a Mobile County Health Department official said today.

Health Department officials in Baldwin County are linking recently reported cases of E. coli to a Feb. 16 Daphne church cookout attended by about 300 people.

Why won’t they release the name of the church? This is a dangerous public health issue. Anyone know where this happened?
