After years of planning and many months construction, the Baldwin County Coliseum is now open for business. Hundreds turned out to celebrate this historic day. The unveiling of a multi-purpose facility to be used for rodeos, fairs, expos, and more importantly a hurricane shelter.
Sonny Hankins, of Baldwin County Cattle & Fair says, “We use it for many other things, it’s the largest building in Baldwin County: weddings, birthdays, banquets, and all other events planned.”
The Coliseum can house nearly 2000 people in the event of a storm and the walls can withstand winds of up to 200 mph.
