Jack Burrell wants to be Fairhope’s next mayor.
Burrell, a 43-year-old pharmaceutical sales representative who moved to Fairhope in 1999, announced his mayoral bid last week.
“I love Fairhope, I think Fairhope is a great place, and I want to make a great place even greater,” Burrell said. “I have two young children, and I want them to grow up in a better place.”
Qualifying for Fairhope’s municipal elections opens July 2 and ends July 15, according to the City Clerk’s office, but candidates are free to campaign before filing official paperwork. The election is scheduled for Aug. 26, and a runoff, if needed, would be Oct. 7.
Current Mayor Tim Kant has not announced whether he will run for re-election.
