Mock school shooting scheduled for Jan 3

A mock school shooting exercise organized by the Baldwin County EMA office is scheduled for tomorrow (1/3). The event will be held at Central Baldwin Middle School in Robertsdale. Only pre-certified participants will be allowed on the campus. While players and participants will gather early, the event will kick off around 10 a.m. with gunfire and the initial call of shooting into 911. Please be advised that this event will have all the “trappings” of an actual school catastrophe – from life flights to the 911 call center intentionally being overwhelmed with calls (for a brief period) – to a post-event press conference at the end.

WEAR, Pensacola, has confirmed a live shot for its 11 a.m. newscast. Most likely WKRG 5 and NBC15 will also do a live shot as well. We will be pushing out Notify Me messages today and tomorrow, in addition to additional media notifications, that this event is NOT an actual emergency.
