County, Auburn agree on road plan

Within several months, workers plan to construct a 540-foot bridge spanning several acres of Fly Creek wetlands.

But the workers won’t, as originally planned, dump tons of fill dirt there and pave over them, county officials said.

After Auburn University officials nixed initial plans in September to fill 3.6 acres of wetlands to build the final segment of Baldwin County 13, officials with the college this week approved the county’s new, more conservation-minded plan, which is expected to cost an additional $2 million.
