Daphne rezoning dispute

Henry Lawson is one of several Lake Forest [unofficial site] property owners who want see a proposed apartment complex stopped before it gets started.
Officials with Grand Point apartments want to expand to a neighboring property. It’s an expansion that would provide up to a 124 brand new apartments. Lawson and others said it would create traffic problems. Lawson said he thinks Grand Point officials should focuses their energy on remodeling the existing apartments they already have.

Officials with Grand Point must first get this property rezoned before moving forward with their planned development. They said the existing apartments are in the process of undergoing major renovations and property managers said their goal is to provide additional homes that are safe, secure and attractive. The issue is expected to be up for debate at the Aug. 20 Daphne City Council meeting.
